Keep Your Home Organized for This School Year

Back-to-School Home Organization

Back-to-school season can be hectic, but there are ways to keep the stress to a minimum by making sure you and your home are prepared. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, these tips and tricks will have you covered.

Your entryway is a key part of your home, especially during this time when the kids are coming and going from school. It’s important to get control of clutter with storage areas and hooks to hang things like backpacks. Designate certain areas for particular items, such as shoes or coats, to keep things clean and organized. Paperwork can create a lot of clutter during the back-to-school season; make a place where you can store and organize all of it to keep it out of the way. A great way to do this is using a file box and hanging folders to organize everything.

Creating a homework spot can not only benefit keeping your home clutter free but benefits your student’s studies as well. Making sure they have a designated place to do homework keeps all their supplies in one place and helps them create a space where they can focus. Items like mail organizers can be great for spaces like these and help create space where their supplies can be stored away. Calendars can also be great additions, either to this space or to another common area in the home. These can help you keep track of everything everyone in the house is and will be doing, from extracurriculars to family functions.

Using a side of your fridge as a hub for school information can be helpful in keeping everyone on the same page. Things such as checklists and timely school documents can be put there to make sure everything is taken care of and on track. You can also use magnetic organizers to store additional, small, school-related materials.

Renter Safe Tricks for Back-to-School Organization

All of these can be applied to both houses and apartments, but there are ways to make sure you stay renter-safe while getting organized. If you are looking to create places to hang items, command hooks are a great option that won’t damage walls and come in a variety of designs. Over-the-door organization can also be great for organizing things like school supplies without taking up too much space.
